2024 Edition
PROGRAM – GIURY – ARTISTIC DIRECTION – FILM SELECTORS – HOSTS – FILM AWARDS
27 films coming from all over the world, a global vision of rurality that will make us travel through Russia, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia, Denmark, Armenia, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, Switzerland, Finland, Great Britain and China.
The festival Corto e Fieno, now in its fifteenth edition, is the only film festival in Italy entirely dedicated to the world of rurality, with screenings and meetings dedicated to the soil, its fruits and those who care for it. This year’s films propose a more multidisciplinary approach to offer new points of view: directors also include architects, designers , artists and scientists .
Since 2010 the screenings of Corto and Fieno are free. You can help us and support the festival by becoming a member of Asilo Bianco or with a donation: a special edition of the shopper, one of the rural gadgets, a fine art print of the poster.
The films are in original language with subtitles in Italian and, when reported, also in English (Eng sub).
The 2024 poster is created by the illustrator and publisher of marinonibooks Antonio Marinoni. The poster represents the rural landscape of plain that Antonio observes every day, crystallizing it in the moment of passage between day and night.
La Sigla
La locandina 2020 è firmata dall’illustratore Luca Di Sciullo (www.lucadisciullo.com), che ha disegnato e animato anche la sigla dell’undicesima edizione.
Ho sempre sentito il mondo rurale come molto vicino a me.

Film Awards
O gun bu gundur, ucuyorum (Aylin Gokmen)
For his ability to poetically express the pain of the tortured man through the memory of his own world as a Kurdish nomad and especially of the intense relationship between man and nature that reaches its climax in the various facets of love, both in childhood with his mother and in youth with a girl lost too early in an ambush
A white-white day (Vasily Chirkov)
Beautiful, sharp and elegant. In the best tradition of Russian animation, it reminds us of the beauty of small things, which are easily overlooked in everyday life.
Strata Incognita (Romea Muryn, Francisco Lobo, Amaia Sànchez-Velasco, Jorge Valiente Oriol)
For having recounted the relationship between man and soil, using a directing style attentive to scientific rigour and poetic transfiguration through a language that takes us back to the best experimental cinema.
The wheat will not be golden (Guoxin Wang)
For the photography and the slow, narrative flow.
For the details reframed by architecture linked to a revolutionary time now overtaken by contemporaneity.
Vincent (Noemi Pisano, Francesco Rey)
People think that technology is not necessary in agricultural work, Vincent the young farmer in this film shows us that modernity and tradition go hand in hand. And that there are various ways of understanding technology.
Mucca, Xiaohui and his cows (Xinying Lao)
The film develops the empathetic relationship between the cow, mother of the calf, and the child.
It succeeds in showing its sensitivity by elevating it to the role of a character.
