The harvesting season has once again returned to Las Varas del Zumajo estate in La Mancha. Every nine years, the cork oak trees are ready to give away their precious bark. A crew of expert axemen from Extremadura descend upon the forest in the middle of the summer to do the job.

Kauri is a production team specialising in multimedia storytelling, web documentaries and short films. Kauri has been making short form documentaries since 2010. In that time Kauri’s films have been officially selected for festivals throughout the world, winning a number of awards including the prestigious DC Shorts film festival in Washington.
Diego’s feature stories and photo essays have featured in international newspapers and magazines, forums, exhibitions and festivals.
Juan is an award-winning documentary photographer and video editor. He has been involved in documentary production for almost 10 years.
