Alvaro Gago is a born and raised Galician filmmaker. After graduating in both Audiovisual Communication and Music, he moves to Chicago where he studies theatre at North Park University. In 2009 he enrolls at the MA Filmmaking offered by the prestigious London Film School where he graduates with the film Curricán. He established himself in London as a film editor, focusing on the editing of both fiction and documentary narratives. He combined his work as an editor with the teaching of film at the Young For Film School and the organisation of the Galician Film Forum. In March 2017 he directs his next short fiction film titled Matria.
