Once crossed by streams and creeks, Montreal has seen its rivers become polluted and buried through centuries of urbanization. Today, only the seagulls circling overhead and the manholes remind us of what lies beneath. Until heavy rain falls and the water floods the streets, reminding the city of its seemingly vanished past.
Guided by some of Montreal’s oldest maps, PASSÉ DISPARU searches for the forgotten rivers and visits the urban landscapes that can be found today.
