IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS
The closest airport to Lake Orta is Milan Malpensa (MXP), just 40 km from the lake. Three other airports, Milan Linate (LIN), Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) (BGY) and Turin Caselle (TRN) are all within a 2-hour drive. If possible, we recommend renting a car at the airport: it is the easiest way to reach Lake Orta and can help you get from one Festival location to the next.
Getting to Ameno by public transport from Malpensa is possible, but the journey must be planned as there are connections only at certain times of the day. Below you will find all the information for trains from Malpensa airport. Public transportations from other airports means travelling by bus to Milan Central Station (and from there take a direct train to Novara and, once there, another to Orta-Miasino).
Taking a train from Malpensa Airport is the best way if you want to use public transport after landing at the airport. The best route, which takes about 2 hours, is from Malpensa to Busto Arsizio Nord (about 13 minutes), and from there to Novara Nord (29 minutes). The Novara Nord station is a few minutes walk from the main railway station (only “Novara”). From Novara station there are direct trains to Orta-Miasino (50 minutes). Between Malpensa and Novara Nord trains are frequent, but between Novara and Orta- Miasino there are fewer trains. You will have to check all timetables on the Trenitalia website www.trenitalia.com or on www.thetrainline.com/information/cheap-train-tickets.
There is also a bus connecting Malpensa airport to and from Novara. The bus is operated by STN (Società Trasporti Novaresi), you can find the timetable here:www.stnnet.it
From Novara you will always need to take a train to Orta Miasino.
Once you arrive at the train station, there are sometimes taxis waiting outside. If you can’t find them, you can ask the bar near the station to book one to take you to your accommodation.
The local bus company is called Comazzi and at www.comazzibus.com you can find the timetable (Arona – Borgomanero – Omegna line).
