Can Gardell
For generations, the Gardell family have devoted themselves to life working the land. An unexpected change in the legal conditions of the land they farm gives Tomàs and Maria no choice but to turn their farm into a bed and breakfast, where they patiently wait for guests to arrive. Can Gardell is a fictional story with real characters; a portrait of a form of rural life that no longer seems to fit our modern times.

SILVIA SUBIRÓS. After pursuing Film Directing and Screenwriting studies, Silvia Subirós obtained a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary (ECIB, Barcelona Film School). Her interest in the relationship between experimental film and music brought her to make several found footage films and videoclips. In 2020 she co-directed Can Gardell with her long-time collaborator Florencia Aliberti and she is currently presenting her second feature-length documentary La Cuina dels Homes.
FLORENCIA ALIBERTI. After studying film in Buenos Aires and philosophy at Barcelona University and Paris 8, Florencia Aliberti obtained a Master’s Degree in Film Studies and Contemporary Audiovisual at Pompeu Fabra University. She works in the field of documentary and experimental film as a director and editor. In 2020 she co-directed the short movie Can Gardell with Silvia Subirós.
