This film may be interpreted as a story about growing up or an improbable zoology manual, a story of love or a metaphor for the existential difficulties faced by every couple. Its protagonist is a young shepherd from the Trentino region of Italy suspended in the thousand-year tradition of transhumance and the actuality of a profession that has once again become profitable.

Denis will meet Cheyenne on his journey, and their flocks will join together, climbing and descending along the river between mountains and plains.
